MEETINGS & EVENTS

For the 2023 Spring Semester:

New Engineers Without Borders (NEWB) meetings occur every FIRST Thursday of the month. NEWB Meetings are focused on providing new and prospective members with the basic functions and goals of our chapter, showing what involvement in the club is like, and to keep everyone informed on upcoming events!

General Body Meetings occur every THIRD Thursday of the month. General Body Meetings are meant to update everyone in the club on the current state of the club, what’s to come in the near future, and to meet the others involved in the club.

Project Meetings occur every SECOND and FOURTH Thursdays of the month. We have added another project meeting to our meeting rotation! The goals will vary from meeting to meeting, but they will be focused on completing work and educating club members on our current projects. Project meetings are open to all members and may be online some weeks. (**PROJECT MEETING REQUIREMENT: If you are wanting to apply to travel with EWB-KU internationally, you MUST attend 2/3rds of the project meetings**)

All of our meetings start at 7pm in LEEP2 Room 2300.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Our chapter hosts monthly social events, which are aimed at providing a space and time for new and returning members to get to know each other outside of an academic setting. Our past social events have included:

  • Bonfire + S’mores
  • EWBowling
  • Ice Cream Social
  • Game Night
  • EWB Olympics
  • Gingerbread house making with KU’s USGBC (United States Green Building Council) Student Chapter

These events are open to all, and we hope to see you at our next one!

KANSAS CHAPTER MEET UP

Every year, EWB chapters from around Kansas meet up at a host college and spend the day discussing their chapters. In October of 2022, we offered to host this meet up at the University of Kansas. It started with a pot luck in a nearby park and then moved to our School of Engineering for chapter presentations and breakout rooms. The day concluded with a “the-only-rule-is-no-rules” tallest tower building competition and a tour of our engineering facilities for the visiting chapters.

We enjoyed getting to hang out and learn about our neighboring chapters and look forward to attending this event next year!
